My Niece, Lauryn

Last week we celebrated Thanksgiving with our wonderful families.  We are so blessed that both of our families get along and enjoy each other's company and that we were able to celebrate this holiday together, as one, big, happy family.  This of course, could not have been done without the generous hospitality of our family members, Brian, Angie and the kids.  The food was fantastic and the family time was precious.  Other than the fact that we were missing some dearly loved family members, I could not have asked for anything more from this special day.

My niece, Lauryn, was in attendance at Thanksgiving.  She is such a sweet girl.  She pulled me aside, and gave me a gift; a candle, which she had picked out.  Not only had she brought this present for me, but she had also taken the time to tie a pretty ribbon around the candle, making its presentation that much more eye appealing.

Lauryn is a thoughtful young lady.  She always has been.  She was not showy in her gift giving.  Instead, she humbly gave me something in private.  I saw in her bag that there were other candles and I am assuming that she passed them out to the other women that were present that day, but I do not know that for sure as she did not make a spectacle out of gift giving.  She simply wanted to give us something to let us know that we are special to her and something that would bring joy to us.  And yes, it has brought joy.  Today, I lit the candle.  As I was going about my day, I was blessed with such a sweet reminder of my wonderful niece.  Once, we were done burning the candle for the day, Arin had the joy of blowing the candle out (also a sweet moment).

I am so thankful that I am related to such a wonderful, warm, thoughtful and generous young lady.  She has always taken the initiative to do a little extra to make a person feel special.  Her attention is in the details and heart is loving and kind.
